Hi, my name is Elena, I grew up in an Spanish-British-Italian family and from early on in life considered pencil and paper as the ultimate entertainment, space planning canal boats and imagining old castles full of décor and life.
After studying Interior Architecture and Design at Nottingham Trent University in the UK, I landed in Hong Kong in 2012.
Since then, I’ve had the opportunity to work on exciting projects throughout Asia, Europe and the Middle East with global industry leaders HBA Design, Aedas and The Gettys Group, as well as independently – from luxury hotels such as Jumeirah, Ritz-Carlton and Langham, to boutique brands like M Gallery and M Social, high-end residential developments, private homes and even a commercial passenger plane!
Honing my expertise in FF&E design (Furniture, Fixtures & Equipment), I was drawn deeper into understanding the origin, production process, functionality and, especially, the environmental impact of the materials and furnishings we select.
So in 2019 I transitioned into product management with B.S.C. COLOURLIVING, Hong Kong’s largest interior fit-out contractor and distributor, sourcing and promoting architectural surfaces for various sectors, and building a comprehensive online materials library for the Hong Kong market with an increasing focus on sustainability.
I believe responsible design can achieve beauty and purpose through reuse of existing elements, preservation of heritage, and embracing innovations that support the protection of our natural resources and environment, fulfilling at the same time practical, budgetary and emotional requirements. As well as working with brands that embody these principles, this also led me to delve into the antiques and vintage world with Auktionshaus Rehm in Germany, advocating the exceptional value of unique pieces that have been cherished for generations.
I am an avid wildlife and travel photographer and outdoor adventures enthusiast. Roaming the world has brought me to explore diverse fairs of design, crafts, antiques and technology, keeping me inspired, curious and current.
